About the Role

As an Income Protection Claims Processor, you’ll play a key role in evaluating claims, making fair and informed decisions, and ensuring claimants receive the support they need. You’ll work closely with brokers, employers, medical professionals, and customers to assess claims accurately and efficiently while maintaining the highest service standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assess new claims, determining the required medical and financial evidence.
  • Make informed decisions on claims once all necessary evidence has been gathered.
  • Calculate and manage ongoing claim payments.
  • Regularly review existing claims to ensure the definition of disablement continues to be met.
  • Identify and explore rehabilitation opportunities for claimants                   
  • Communicate clearly with Brokers, Employers, Claimants, and Doctors to provide updates and request information.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical and medical expertise in claims assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and maintain strong risk control measures.

  • Proven experience in Income Protection claims assessment.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A customer-focused approach with the ability to provide clear, empathetic, and professional service.
  • A positive, solution-focused attitude with a proactive mindset.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow through on commitments.
  • An interest in ongoing developments in medical care and rehabilitation options.
  • Knowledge of risk, regulatory, and control environments relevant to claims assessing.
  • Desirable, but not mandatory: Qualified or grandfathered status under the Minimum Competency Code (grandfathered candidates will be required to complete a Claims Diploma or relevant qualification within an agreed period).

Additional Information

This role is classified as a ‘controlled function’ under the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be subject to the company’s due diligence process to ensure the appointee meets the Fitness and Probity Standards issued by the Central Bank.
