Position Overview

Excellent opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our expanding team.

We are looking to recruit a newly qualified Financial Accountant who will support the CFO with the preparation of management accounts, audit requirements, process improvement and other ad-hoc tasks and projects. You will be responsible for managing financial transactions, projections and budgeting.

Role Requirements:

  • The Financial Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded correctly, maintaining up-to-date records, and organizing financial documents for easy access and reference. Ensuring all accounts are reconciled and identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Manage and oversee the workload of the finance team to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly management accounts ensuring integrity, accuracy, consistency. Assist in preparation of the monthly board reports.
  • Review of monthly payroll files including variances v gross to net and supporting payroll related activities such as providing cover for monthly payroll,
  • Preparation and review of tax/VAT returns and other regulatory/compliance returns.
  • Working closely with the auditors on the year end audit, preparation of back up schedules for the audit, financial statements and corporation tax returns.
  • Detailed financial analysis and presentation of financial information to support decision making. Supporting the management team in preparation of budgeting and forecasting. Gathering data, analysing trends, preparing budgets and maintaining projections.
  • Close working relationship with operations to ensure accurate and timely billing, efficient payroll reporting and driving improvements in the working capital
  • Understanding and challenging current business practice, identifying and implementing initiatives, including digitisation, to improve processes and deliver business growth objectives.
  • Assisting in ad-hoc reports and project work as required.
  • Learning and growing in the role: The Financial Accountant is encouraged to continue developing their accounting skills, staying updated on industry trends, and seeking opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

 

The Person

  • Recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA).
  • Ideally 1-2 years' post qualification experience, preferably in industry
  • Excellent IT/financial systems experience with strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 especially Excel.
  • Experience in sage or similar accounting software is desirable but not essential.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organising skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule and work within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability with high accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
